What to Expect

Picture
Students may arrive anytime after noon on arrival day to set up camp. Our first meal together will be dinner that evening. Opening circle is the next morning, which begins our four full days of classes and workshops.  Classes generally have a morning and afternoon session with a break in the middle of the day for lunch and rest.  For more information about the types of skills you might be able to learn here, please visit our Classes Offered page. Each day we will circle in the morning after breakfast to go over general camp logistics and class announcements.  In the evenings, we will share dinner and then music and discussions around the fire.  We welcome instruments, singing, storytelling, and sharing by the fire at night.  There is a fire for music and a fire for quiet conversations.  We ask all participants to be respectful of others and please remember that we are offering a drug and alcohol free environment. We do encourage celebrating, merriment, music making, and a generally festive atmosphere! On our final day together we will share breakfast and a brief closing circle. We welcome children and families and want all of the children to feel safe and cared for.  During class hours, children's games and activities will be hosted by our Kids Program instructors.  We ask all participants to help us create a safe place for the children,.  Everyone at the gathering is responsible for helping to create a village atmosphere that feels safe, welcoming, and fun for all involved.  Please come with an open mind and heart, ready to create meaningful connections, new relationships, and cherished memories!
About the Food

Breakfast will be served around 8 am and dinner will be served between 6 and 7 pm. There is a 1-2 hour lunch break midday where participants can eat lunch, which you must provide for yourself. Our main fire is available all day for cooking or heating lunch and snacks.  Especially if the weather is cool or rainy, we provide hot water for tea all day. We provide hearty, organic (and local when possible) food made from scratch in our fully equipped outdoor kitchen.  We strive to provide meals that work for people with common dietary restrictions.  Most meals include meat, and have optional dairy and wheat.  We are proud to be able to say that almost all the meat we serve is from animals we process ourselves from local organic farms.  Vegetarian options are also available.  We love coffee, and are pleased to be able to serve hot organic coffee with breakfast each morning.
